What is TeamItup?
Teamitup is the easiest way to manage and share your sports information. We help athletes and teams keep track of their schedules, results, stats, and other sports updates in real-time. Simply enter your information and follow updates of players and teams that interest you most.
Who can use TeamItUp?
Teamitup is a free real-time platform that helps players, coaches, teams, and fans of all levels, sports, and genders.
FEEDS
Teamitup provides each user with personal feeds to post their updates and follow updates from other users:
Homepage Feed
The most recent updates from all of the users a user has chosen to follow
User Profile Feed
The most recent updates posted by the user
Mentions Feed
The most recent updates that mention a user’s username (@username) in an update and most recent comments and likes a user’s fans have posted on their updates
FOLLOW USER
Users can follow another user to receive to connect and receive their updates in their home feed. The more people a user follows, the more value Teamitup brings them.
You can follow any user by clicking on the "Follow” button that is located on a user profile page or next to a user’s name throughout the site.
UPDATES
What are updates?
Updates are real-time messages that are no longer than 420 characters. Users have the option to post different types such as regular, schedule, results, stats, or recruiting using the tabs above their text entry box.
Updates can be public or private and can be displayed on your homepage feed, everyone feed, and user profile feed. Most importantly, they are used to share, communicate, manage, and promote your sports information with other users on Teamitup.
How do I post an update?
Users can post an update from their home feed or though their user profile feed. Simply choose what type of update you would like to post, enter your message, and click the “update” button.
Who can see the updates?
Updates can be public or private. Users can edit their privacy settings by visiting their account section.
I post an update on my home or user profile feed
If my profile is public, then any users who are following me will see my update in their homepage feed and it will also be displayed for all to see in the Everyone feed. If my profile is private, then only users who I have approved to follow me, will see my updates and it will not be displayed in the Everyone feed.
How to delete an update
Log into Teamitup, locate your update, and click the “Delete” link located below the update. This will remove the update from further displaying in any feeds.
COMMENTS/REPLIES
How do I comment on an update and reply to a private message?
Users are able to reply to any update of a user they are following by clicking on the "Comment" link below their update. When someone comments on an update, the user who wrote the update will be notified in their “Mentions” and via email.
Users can reply to any private message, which they receive by clicking on the "Reply" link located next to the message When someone replies to a private message, the recipient is notified in their “Messages” and via email.
TAGS
What is a user "Tag" and how does it work?
A @user “Tag" allows you to tag another user in your update and the tagged user will be instantly notified via their “Mentions” and email. By tagging other users in your updates, people will know who you are talking about and able to view their profile.
Type @name or @username to tag a user in your message, i.e. big game today @Charlie Perry or @charlieperry
What is a text "Tag" and how does it work?
A #text “Tag" allows you to turn a word into a search term, so that other users can click on it in your update and see what other updates on Teamitup contain the same tag. It’s a good way for users to know what sports topic your message is about.
Type #text to make a word a search term, i.e. can’t wait for the #playoffs
What is the tag box?
The tag box displays the most recent #tags that have been posted in updates on Teamitup. Feel free to click on them and see what other users are talking about.
LIKES
Users are able to Like any update of a user they are following by clicking on the “Like” link below their update. When someone likes an update, the user who wrote the update will be notified in their “Mentions” and via email.
MESSAGES
What are "Messages" and how are they used?
Messages are private messages that are exchanged ONLY between you and another user who is your fan. They are sent to a user's "Messages" inbox, as well as via an email notification.
You can only send a private message to users who are your fan. You can only receive private messages from users who you are following
What is the difference between an update including @name and a private message?
An update containing @name is a public message sent regardless of follow-ship that anyone can view (unless private profile). Users who are tagged in the update will be instantly notified.
A private message can only be sent to one of your fans and is only viewed between the sender and recipient.
Can I post Teamitup updates/private messages from my phone, email, IM, or another platform?
Currently you can post updates and send private messages on Teamitup primarily through the web platform or mobile browsers. In the near future, we will be allowing users to post updates/private messages via channels such as text message, email, IM, and mobile applications.
NOTIFICATIONS
What are "Notifications" and how do they work?
Notifications will be displayed in your header and sent to the email address you signed up with each time one of the following occurs:
- A user tags you in an update
- A user posts a comment or likes your update
- A user sends you props
- A user sends you a private message
- A user starts to follow you
- A user requests to follow you
- A user confirms your follow request
- A user edits their password settings
CONNECTIONS - FOLLOWING AND FANS
What is "Following" and how does it work?
"Following" is a listing of all users you choose to follow and receive their updates on your home feed. The more people you follow, the more updates will be displayed and information shared on your home feed.
You can follow any user by clicking on the "Follow” button that is located on a user profile page or next to a user’s name throughout the site. If you don’t want to follow a user any longer, just click the unfollow button located on their profile or in your following list.
What is "Fans" and how does it work?
"Fans" is a listing of all users who choose to follow you and receive your updates on their home feed. The more followers you have, the bigger the audience you have to share your sports information with.
Users can choose to make their profile private, which allows them to approve which users can become one of their fans.
Can I block people from following me and being my fan?
Yes, you can block any user on Teamitup and they won’t be able to follow you (receive your updates) or send you any messages. You can do so by visiting the user’s profile and clicking “Report/Block” link. Once a user is blocked, they won’t be able to view your profile, they won’t be able to receive your updates in their home feed, and they can’t send you private messages.
EVERYONE
What is "Everyone" and which updates are displayed there?
"Everyone" is a real-time feed of all recent public updates posted on Teamitup by all users whose profiles are public. If you post an update on your home feed or user feed and your profile is public, your message will appear here and be viewed by all users on Teamitup.
If you choose not to have your personal updates displayed on "Everyone", you can mark your profile private, which only allows your approved followers to view your updates and not appear in Everyone feed. Visit your account settings to edit your privacy settings.
MENTIONS
What is the "Mentions" feed and what is displayed there?
"Mentions" is a listing of the most recent updates that you are tagged in, updates a fan has commented on or likes, and props a user has sent your way.
Anytime a user tags you in an update, comments or likes your update or comment, or gives you props, you will be notified in your "Mentions" tab.
PROFILE & ACCOUNT SETTINGS
How can I change my Account Information?
To change your account information, such as name, username, email, password, or privacy, click on the "Account Settings" link located at the top right in your header. You will see any previous information entered and can complete any changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
How can I change my User Profile Information?
To change your user profile information, such as name, team, number, stats, profile picture, click on the "Edit Profile” link located in your header and user profile page. You will see any previous information entered and can complete any changes by clicking the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
How can I recover my password?
If you forgot your password, click on the “forgot password” link below the “Login” box on the Teamitup homepage. Enter your email address you used to join and we will send you instructions to reset your password.
